"Little India" ~ Singapore's most authentic ethnic district ♥

Aaah..."Little India"!
When you arrive here, you suddenly feel as though you have crossed the border into another country...
it's like you're in a 'Bollywood' movie (well, sort of)...kinda strange but true.
(chuckle, chuckle)

Little India is Singapore's most authentic neighborhood,
the colorful vibrant home of the local Indian community.
This enclave is a true feast of the senses.

'BFF' Fedelaine brought me here with her dentist-sister Tess, to have an authentic Indian dinner.
But before that, we went to Mustafa Centre.
Fed had to buy some ingredients at the supermarket, which she needed for the Indian dish she was planning to cook over the week-end...

                                                     Mustafa Centre

They say a visit to Little India is not complete without going to Mustafa Centre...and now I think I know why.
Mustafa at Little India is a shoppers paradise!
I haven't seen a store with such a huge variety of products.
The variety and range of products was mind-boggling~it seemed endless!
Whew!

Mustafa is a department store which opens 24 hours.
It is located in a six-story building which also houses a hotel.
It is a hub for all things electronic.
You will find household appliances and just about anything that you need.
It boasts of having 120,000 kinds of products!

What to buy??
From chocolates to food consumables, from stationaries to grocery stuff, from clothes to bikes, from make-up to jewelry, from toys to electronic gadgets, from sports/exercise equipments to perfumes, from hardware items to souvenirs, from watches to digital cameras~name it, they have it~you can get everything under the sun in this one big big store...this is the place where everything is under one roof!!

I bought a travelling bag which I needed when I hand-carry back to the Philippines the new XBox 360-Kinect bundle I got for my son Benedict Eric (B.E.).
The price was very reasonable.

Sakunthala Restaurant

Chapati

At Sakunthala Restaurant, we chowed down some Chapati, Kashmiri Naan, Butter Chicken, & Palak Paneer with matching yogurt drinks
~ delicious despedida dinner treat of my 'BFF' Fedelaine! ♥

Located along Serangoon Rd. is the heartland of the Indian community. Walking along the streets of Little India lets you see a temple, shophouses, shopping malls and restaurants. Passing by the rows of restaurants here lets you smell the strong scent of curry. If you're not used to it, hhmmm, makes you a bit sick.

On Sundays, you'll see that the families of and workers from the Indian sub-continent are gathered here, hanging around, doing some shopping and eating.

I think worth a visit. A little ethnic neighbourhood inside Downtown Singapore. Felt like I was in India, a few blocks on either side of Serangoon Road. There are many shops and places to get a great cheap authentic Indian meal.

Little India is much more interesting than Chinatown, it feels more authentic and has a few Hindu temples that you can visit. They aren't open all the time though, I missed several of them by coming at the wrong time.
