NATIONAL MONUMENT
("TUGU NEGARA")
The National Monument is Malaysia's pride and symbol of freedom.
It stands in the memorial site located in Jalan Tugu, within the peaceful Lake Gardens, close to the Parliament House of Kuala Lumpur.

Here, Fed and I were looking up in awe at how tall the structure was!!!)

It is said to be one of the largest freestanding sculptures in the world.
(The monument stands at 15.54 meters high! Can you imagine that?!)

A Tribute To Fallen Heroes
The National Monument or Tugu Negara was built as a tribute in honor of those brave men who gave up their lives in the cause of peace and freedom, particularly during the nation's fight against Communism.
It was designed by the famous sculptor, Felix de Weldon, who was also the creator of the Iwo Jima monument in Washington, D.C.
The monument depicts 7 soldiers symbolizing the 7 qualities of leadership:
courage, leadership, sacrifice, strength, suffering, unity, vigilance.
Surrounded by pretty water fountains and water lilies,
I think the Tugu Negara is a nice place to spend some quiet time. ☺
(* I love history and I am glad to visit this very impressive monument.
It is 'thought-provoking'...makes one think about the sacrifices of others in the history of Malaysia.)
Love and light,
SAL ♥
