An Amazing Day With Friends At Don Salvador Benedicto! ♥

Aaah...DON SALVADOR
~ the "little Baguio of Negros".
We went there today to attend the birthday celebration of a dear friend
~ (Tito) Ed Varela. ♥

The town of Don Salvador Benedicto,
also known as DSB, is an easy town to get to.
I can drive there in 45 minutes.

You can enjoy the scenic views along the way...♥

Chocolate Hills similar to those in Bohol...♥

other scenic views which are simply awesome...♥

lovely...♥

breathtaking...♥

relaxing...!!! ♥

You know, I have always thought that the rice terraces can be found exclusively in Baguio
~ at the Mt.Province.
But I was wrong...because in Don Salvador Benedicto, the terrain was carved out to form these verdant terraces! ♥

The statue of a lion in a scenic view of the Northern Negros Natural Park

The prominent statue of a lion in the scenic upland municipality of Don Salvador is getting the attention of visitors and passers-by in the area.
It is becoming a popular landmark where visitors drop by to pose for souvenir photos.
The 10-foot statue of the lion symbolizes the logo of the Lions Club International.

The town of Don Salvador Benedicto, also known as DSB, or just "Don Salvador", has been named as the Summer Capital of Negros.
Don Salvador is also known as the "Little Baguio" of Negros because of its cool weather.

Don Salvador Public Library

There are lots of beautiful plants and flowers abundant in Don Salvador, including my favorites
~ the famous Mickey Mouse plant, Million Flowers, and Torch plant! ♥

Tito Ed 'horsing around'/playing with the "apos" (grandchildren)

This is Tito Ed Varela
~ he is a very close friend of my hubby Babes & "Ninong" of our son B.E.
It was his birthday today & he invited us to a lunch celebration at their rest house in Don Salvador.
All members of his family were there...his lovely wife (Tita Nora), his daughters and their respective families, his sisters (Tita Nena, Tita Titang, & another sister who just arrived from the U.S.), and so with the nephews, nieces, & apos
~ such fun! ♥

(That's me with Tita Del Varela ~ Tita Del's maiden name is "Salgado" and she is a relative of beloved hubby on his mother's side = the Cordovas.
I am happy to be related to such a lovely lady, even by affiliation only.) ♥

pretty Varela ladies ♥

(The Varela-Sicangco younger set of the clan...not entirely "strangers" to me
~ 'coz most of the girls were my schoolmates back in St.Scho.Bacolod.
One of them [Tito Ed's U.S.-based niece Binky Varela] is a dear classmate.) ♥

To dear (TITO) ED,

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
 May God bless you.
Thank you for inviting us to your birthday celebration
~ we enjoyed it.
What a lovely close-knit family (the Varelas & Sicangcos) you have
~ so admirable!
(Now you know what prompted me to joke earlier ~
nga "daw 'mapa-adopt' na lang ako?!" hehehe)

Love,
SALLY
(with your "Pare Babes" and "ihado B.E.") ♥♥♥
