Emma Lacson's Delicacies: Much beloved Pili Nut Squares and Fresh Lumpia

Emma Lacson's DELICACIES

The "die-hard foodie" that I am,
I just couldn't let our Silay trip pass without dropping by Emma Lacson's heritage house to buy their delicious delicacies! heheh

Their Pili Squares are my favorite.
Everyone should try it.
It will make your sweet tooth happy ~ believe me.

This is heaven~
Emma Lacson's Pili Squares!

The Pili Squares are more butterscotch-like/brownie-like,
than being a pie.
They are buttery, chewy, moist, and mildly nutty.
They have a flaky, thin crust at the bottom.

I have tasted diff'rent kinds of pili products from other places but nothing compares to Emma Lacson's,
which brings the pili to epicurean delight!

Hmm,
must be physically tough to mix lots of these pastries everyday huh!

This is "Manang Aste".
She was the one who entertained us when we went there to buy our boxes of Pili Nut Squares and Fresh Lumpia.
She was all-smiles when I took her picture,
especially when I told her I will include it here in my humble Blog when I write about their products, heheh.

Fresh Lumpia

These Fresh Lumpia are made from young coconut trunk meat or "ubod" with beef or chopped hard- boiled egg,
wrapped in thin flour crepes or egg wrappers.

Their Fresh Lumpia tastes good.

It is said that the best Fresh Lumpia in Negros is Emma Lacson's. ☺

With regards to the history of Emma Lacson Delicacies,
her great-great-grand-niece Nora Lacson says that what started as a cooking hobby of their great-great aunt (Emma Lacson) years ago has been passed on to the members of the 4th generation now.
And from 1925 to the present, the name of the great food connoisseur is still carried by the business.
The business started with the sumptuous "Fresh Lumpia" which was served as side dishes or appetizers.
The second venture was with the crispy Empanadas.
Then, the "Senorita" or the crispy crusts filled with rich caramel...and the "Panyo-Panyo" bits or cute banana tarts.
The family recipes of Emma Lacson have really withstood the test of time, and have maintained their first-rate tastes.
It is indeed the present generation's pride to have this fine legacy.
