Forget fine dining on the beach.
We Filipinos know exactly what delicious food is to be served ~ boodle fight-style
~ by the sea.
~ by the sea.
These, we absolutely must eat with our hands.
Otherwise, we'd have missed the whole point.
(heheh) ☺
Watermelon
The beach means sun; the sun means hot days.
And we Filipinos know the perfect foil to this: sinking our faces in cool slices of watermelon.
Alimango (Crab)
Yes, it's loaded with cholesterol.
But we Filipinos have developed a 'selective memory' of sorts (LOL) whenever we're served freshly-cooked crab, especially if it's served with rice and a vinegar dip.
Right?! ☺
Prawns
Somehow, being near the sea makes us Filipinos yearn for seafood.
Inihaw nga isda (Grilled Fish)
Bangus (milkfish) and Tilapia are usually the
favorite fish for grilling on the beach.
They're often stuffed with tomatoes, onions, herbs, and spices.
Inihaw nga liempo (Grilled pork chops)
Nothing whets the appetite more than slabs of marinated pork grilling by the beach.
Even better, have a bowl of dip ready at the table, with a mixture of soy sauce, calamansi, chopped onions, and crushed sili (pepper).
For breakfast on the beach, longganisa is the way to go.
We Filipinos love this with fried rice and fried egg.
Of course, we also love this even in a concrete jungle setting. ☺
Mangoes
The sweet mangoes of our beloved Philippines have a fan club of their own.
And why not?
Their juicy sweetness is the perfect ending to a fabulous meal by the beach. ☺
