Favorite Dishes for that Rainy Day Craving!

With the summer days over for more than a month now, rainy days are here again and the sound of raindrops wakes us up in the morning.
The cool breeze and gloomy atmosphere makes it harder to get out of bed and start another busy day.
To get you going and to make it easier to rise in the morning, how about me sharing my top favorite foods for this rainy season?
Prepare your family's heirloom recipes of the following dishes because this post will make you crave and more! (heheh)

Champorado
This chocolate concoction tops my list for the rainy season must-eat!
Made from glutinous rice or "pilit" ("malagkit"), and cocoa powder, or for a more traditional recipe, tableya,
this chocolate rice porridge is a favorite merienda (and even breakfast!) for us Pinoys/Filipinos.

Beef Mami
A simple recipe of hot beef stock, egg noodles and cuts of melt-in-your-mouth beef briskets can certainly go a long way.
Although of Chinese origin, this dish became very popular to Filipinos from all walks of life.
Imagine a big bowl of this yummy goodness on a rainy morning; that certainly will be a piece of heaven on earth!

Banana Turon
Saging nga sab-a coated with brown sugar, wrapped in lumpia wrapper and fried to the heart’s content, makes up for one of the most craved merienda of us 'Pinoys' /Filipinos.
Turon ~ a perfect comfort food.

Sopas
For me, the perfect soup for the rainy days is macaroni soup.
Most families have their own version and recipe of this delicious dish that is passed through generations.
The use of fresh milk or evaporated milk makes this soup-based dish unique.

(*As for me, I use my Mom's recipe from my childhood days, using corned beef and veggies like cabbage & carrots to go with our macaroni soup.
My own family loves it, too.) ♥

Dinuguan
"Dinuguan" or The Filipino “Blood Stew”
is really for the more adventurous eater.
Made out of pork meat, pork innards and pork blood, this is a definite must try for first timers in our country.
The use of vinegar and green peppers is very Pinoy/Filipino in taste.
With its thick sauce and unique ingredients, a hot bowl of this dish will certainly lift our spirits even on the gloomiest of weathers.

(*As for me, I love eating this with native Puto.
Dinuguan + Puto = perfect combination!)
